Description
It came in the dark of February, and left soon afterwards
Little was it known, it would be the last snowy blizzard
In this small corner, the world did not know winter
The cold was never deep; something much more fainter
Winters came, winters passed
Still the floating, sparkling flakes would never last
And then, in the twentieth year, something fantastic occured
In the quiet, black morning, the snow did return
It fell in silence, transforming it all
The ground and the trees, old buildings so tall
The people gathered round and marveled in wonder
Children's eyes grew wide while the older one's floundered
The beauty of such a thing was both so old yet so new
The secret prayers for winter's pure touch had finally come true
So, yes, this past Thursday was truly a historic event for parts of Louisiana. Where I lived, we received at least half a foot of snow. You must understand, the last time we had any snow in such quantity was twenty years ago, in 1988, the year I was born. I am absolutely convinced God sent me an early birthday gift. Though it did not last the day, it was so incredibly beautiful. I'm not kidding when I saw I felt like a child, witnessing my first snow and the wonder of it all.
P.S. ...........I hereby PROMISE I will answer all comments, etc. by next week. Pinky promise!
P.S.S. Should I post these pics individually and make prints out of them?
P.S.S.S. Yes, these are real pictures that I took at stinkin 5:30 in the morning (with flash which why they came out so well).

Yes, I am a lazy bum and have not gotten around to commenting until now...
I really like the poem. It's different to have you write one about something real rather than some more...abstract? Nevertheless, I love the pictures as well~ It was probably the first thing I thought when I found out that it was snowing. 'I sure hope Kaitlin took some pictures! She'll be so mad if she doesn't.'
Yes, it was God's early birthday gift to you. Now, if I can actually get around to giving you mine...*is still a lazy bum and is too scared of holiday traffic to go get it*
