It's been what, over a year or so?  Can you see life has really ran away from me?

It's been a very, very long time.  So, let me start by saying Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, and Happy Easter and any other holiday greeting that I missed.  I hope you all wonderful ones, and to all my DA friends that left me sweet messages, thank you so much.  I was gone, but I definitely didn't forget about any of you.  I browsed through some of your work and might I say it's as excellent as ever and getting better.

To all my new watchers, thank you so much.  I'm glad you're still sticking with me! =D

Talk about surprise when I got on, is this the same DA I knew a few years ago?  Everything is so different! *is somewhat lost*

Can someone explain the llama things to me??

Anywho, life is still hectic and my photography has suffered for it, however, I believe I'll be getting back into the swing of things soon enough.  This summer is going to mark, shall we say, a revival of sorts?  So hold guys, I'm coming!  In the meantime, I do have a few smaller scale things to post (mostly senior pics, etc.) that I've done in the past year or so.

Love you guys!

Howdy and Hello

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 4, 2009, 9:25 PM

Hey guys, remember me?

Hey everyone........I suppose you know the drill by now.  Here's my bi-annual update where I apologize profusely for not commenting and thanking and keeping up to date with everyone.  But the great thing is, I know most of you understand and I thank you for still sticking with me.

Lots of things have been going on, both big and small, simple and complicated.  But let's talk about other things.  How is everyone doing?  How is your summer going?  Anything exciting?

My summer has mostly been taken up by well, theater.  We (a local church) are putting on Beauty and the Beast and take a wild guess what my role is?  Besides being assisstant director, I'm also, you guessed it, Belle.  It's been a journey for sure!  But it's always been a dream of mine to play my favorite princess and now I get the chance.

I'm getting the ballgown dress made so I'll try to get some pictures in it and post them.

Mechacon is in a few weeks, Lord have mercy!  My head is already spinning.  This is my second time cosplaying, but my first time crossplaying.  I just hope I do justice to the characters.

By the way, our cosplay group (Mad-Tea-Party-Prodn) has some new things up and more on the way.  Just thought I'd let you know.  Hopefully I'll be getting a few up as me as Riku/Byakuya in the near future.

Well that's all for now.  Short and sweet!  I will probably be making a few dozen fav and runs for all of ya'll so be on the lookout for my fav floodage.  Miss you guys and hope I can get the chance to keep up with you more in the near future! :glomp:

P.S. Wish my luck on stage!  And no "break a leg" please.  I can't afford to since the waltz with Beast is now a full fox-trot.  :faint:

Updates and Vader Pawns All

Journal Entry: Fri Feb 27, 2009, 9:20 PM

I'm pink today

...Ok, not really.  I'm actually blue....

....Sorry guys I'll stop with the strange inside jokes.

Anyway, hey!  Lots of things have been going on for me lately. Most of them good. :aww:

For one, I finally caved and got my sub back.  I can't help it, I missed it soooo much!

Kaitlin = Subwhore

My epic battle with my inbox is going somewhat in my favor...at the moment.

For two, OMG *#$&*#)$*# I got my camera. :faint: It is flippin AMAZING.  The only problem is that I'm only on page 49 of the instruction book.  That's right book, not manual, book.  Like...a full fledged novel.  I did do some pictures with it and they were wonderful but I am woefully ignorant of all of its parts and workings which means I won't use it until I can use it correctly.  Plus, I'm looking to get a certain lens (a real lens...not the cheap one it came with).

I've been working full steam on my story and it's coming along wonderfully.  I think I'm around 110 pages at this point...

Ok everyone, here's two important things for you.  First, please notice the module on the right side of my front page labeled "Feature".  That is where, whenever I have time, I will feature people!  So always be sure to check there and if you have any suggestions feel free to send them my way.

The second part of this, you should notice the box below labeled "Artist Support".  Similar to my last one, this is where everyone gets a chance to announce things!  Maybe you've opened commissions, or you're holding a contest, etc. etc. just write me and I'll put it up! :aww:

In other news, I have picked both my cosplays for this year and am currently working on things for them (mainly props, etc.).  I'm soooooooo nervous.  Last year I played Yuuko and I just feel I didn't do her justice so this year I really, really want to do it right.  Especially since I'm doing two of the coolest characters....a.k.a. Byakuya from Bleach and Riku from Deep Dive----> :faint:

Anywho, enough about me.  How is life treating everyone else?  Anything special, happy or funny going on?

In the meantime, everyone go watch this video.  Vader always pawns.

So....I've only been gone, oh, a few months...haha...ha.  Well, I might as well say it, SORRY TO EVERYONE I'M JUST RESPONDING TOO.

There were enough messages in my inbox to tie them together and climb up Mt. Everest.  Some were from, like, September, August?  Sorry guys, but as you know, multiple reasons have kept me away.  And though I cleared all the deviations, I've tried to respond to every comment and thank you for every fav.

If I missed anyone, thank you all so much for the comments and favs, etc! :glomp:

Moving on, how was everyone's holidays?  Good I hope!  Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year.  Heck, I'm still listening to Christmas Carols (Enya's Christmas album is INCREDIBLE).

Any special gifts you received/gave?  Did everyone happily gain 10 or so pounds? :aww:

My birthday was nice.  I made spaghetti and it was GOOD.

Haha, just kidding.....kind of.

Anyway, I'm back in Louisiana for now.  I'm starting class next week which I'm looking forward too (b/c of my photography class).  And, oh yes, I'm still working very hard on my book.  As a matter of fact, that is what takes up most of my time now.  I'm hoping to finish book one sometime this year.

That part of the reason why DA is on the backburner for now.  I used to spend so much time here and when I do come on, I tend to be on forever.  Meaning simply I need to be able to concentrate and internet time = distraction.

However, now that I've got a good jumpstart on the book, I should have a little more time to get on, but there are no gurantees at this point.

In other news, there are several shoots to look forward too this year!  There is for one, a re-do (properly this time) of the Mad Tea Party!  We'll do Glenda and Elphaba from Wicked.  There's also a lot more cosplay related shoots this summer, but I'll leave that till later.

The big one though? *sigh* I know I'm going to regret announcing this later, but this March, we've gotten almost an entire cast to carry out none other than that crazy-over the top-sparkly-love induced coma- series that has taken the fancy of girls across the world- Twilight.

STAMPEDE! *gets run over*  H-help......

Ok, ok, but seriously we are doing it sometime in March hopefully.  I'm not sure if I'll post it here or over on :devmadteapartyprodn:'s account.  Either way I'll let you know once it's up.

Well, that's about all the updates I have for now.

Oh wait, except for one.........

I'M GETTING A NEW CAMERA $%#$^#$%!

Yeah, I'm excited.  I've been saving and saving for this camera and now I can almost afford to get it (with a couple of lenses too!).

*melt* :excited:

Ok, ok, ok, I'll shut up now.  Just wanted to give you guys a quick update.  I'm sure we'll talk very soon (and I mean it this time).

....Crap, sub gone....THAT'S 30$ LESS FOR MY CAMERA....*debates whether she wants to get one*

Better late than never...

Hey everyone, been a while (yet again!).  How is everyone?  Good I hope!  Halloween is this Friday, you all must be sure to eat a ton of candy for me (since I can't/won't eat any myself).  Is anyone going to a costume party or something?

There's several bits of news I have to relay!  First off, I've been a writing fool and have gotten a fair amount of work done on my book.  Which leads me to an announcement: a website!  One of my best friends (well, we've decided we're related actually) has agreed to help set up a website in the near future.  We won't be working on it till sometime in December, but be looking forward to it!

Alright, we at Mad Tea Party Productions have decided to re-shoot our own Mad Tea Party.  Our last attempt was not 100%!  We are going to go re-do it, so be on the lookout for it late winter- early spring. :w00t:

Next, I am really loving it here in Ft. Worth.  There's a lot of neat things to see and do.  Today though, I would like to relay something I was (finally) able to go to this weekend.  You see, here in Ft. Worth are the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens.  I've always wanted to go (there's 500 acres of various types of gardens), yet I never had the chance until this weekend.

Me, along with my grandmother/father went to none other than the Japanese gardens this Saturday.  To top it off, there was a big Japanese Festival event happening at them at the same time.  It was incredible.  Quite simply put it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.  I had so much fun and a literal field taking pictures of the gorgeous life within the gardens.

So I've since edited quite a few.  I've decided that I'm going to put together a calendar of some of the pictures I captured.  It's all kind of abstract and simple, but in part, I think that was part of the beauty of it all.  So be on the lookout!

In other news, I'm going to be going home for most of the month of December.  I'm so excited (it's kind of lonely here).  I'm not quite sure of my plans yet beyond that, but we'll see.

H'okay, so, I was tagged by dkirbyj about oh, a month ago. :XD:  So now I'm going to catch up on that (sorry for being so late!).

1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 8 things about their self on their journal.
3. At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them. ( personal note: you do it if you want to )
5. No tag-backs.

1.) I LOVE CHEESE....with a nice blushing wine of course.
2.) I've never had a suprise party
3.) I Absolutely love cats.  I will be the old woman with a million cats.
4.) I am a total tea fanatic.  I would love someday when I'm older to open up my own tea room (I collect teapots from every place I go). SUBLIMINAL MESSAGE: teaposy.com =<---Visit if you love blooming tea
5.) I have a goal of one day getting a kiss (on the check) from the cutest Ichigo ever (yeah, I better start varying the cons I go too).
6.) I've never sold any of my artwork (I'll keep trying though!)
7.) Christmas is my favourite holiday of which my favourite part is giving presents (I wish I could do it all year- I love seeing the look on someone's face when they open their gift.)
8.)I, uh have never been kissed

Alright, random facts over!

It was by random chance that I happened upon this week's feature.  Browsing favourites (as I often do) I happened upon a deviation that immediately had my attention.  After clicking on this newer deviant's gallery, I was pleasantly suprised at the breath taking pieces in her gallery.  A world full of swirling patterns, glimmering colors and some of the most lovely abstract pieces I've seen in a while.  Be sure to visit AKOrganicAbstracts's gallery and let it speak to you!

Feature #18 Long time, no see

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 13, 2008, 7:13 AM

Ah, what a week!

Well hello everyone! :glomp:  Needless to say, I've somewhat resurrected from the dead.  Let's get my usual phrase out of the way first: I'M SO SORRY, I'LL CATCH UP SOON!!

....

Next!  It's been a crazy past few weeks for me.  Moving here (Texas) and adjusting to this strange new lifestyle is a bit overwhelming but I'm really loving it.  I can't believe how busy I am!

I've been learning the city (which is pretty dang big to little ol' country girl me), going ice-skating (my little cousin is an ice-skater), learning new cooking techniques, meeting people (new youth group!), and most importantly, writing like crazy!

So anyway, guess that's part of why I haven't been keeping up (plus, there's only one way to get internet at the house!!).  Man, all of you guys have been busy!  My inbox is going to EXPLODE! :giggle:

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know what's going on.  I really miss talking to all of you.  I'm going to have to try to figure out how I can get on the darn internet *attempts to lasso internet*.  Hope all of you have been having a wonderful month, get ready my favourite season is coming!

BTW, I obviously don't really have access to many models here, BUT I do in the form of nature.  Thus, most of the pics I'll be posting will be of the great outdoors in all its wonders.  Just wanted to give you guys a heads up!

BECKY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! ( yeah, I don't have a calendar on me, but I'm pretty sure it's today)  I found the AWESOMEST gift for you and Kelly.  You're going to die of happiness, and explode with laughter.  Just wait. :lmao:

Much
Kaitlin

P.S. All my LA girls, please keep me in your prayers.

Hurricane Gustav...GO AWAY!

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 30, 2008, 7:42 PM

Ah,lovely hotel coffee

So, I'm going along my own, busy, happy way.  Travel plans have been secured and I was all set to leave for my new home Tuesday, September 3, right after Labor Day.  And then, and then up and comes the most lovely news....a hurricane.

.....

:fork:  GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I was sooo frustrated, but not super concerned.  I've been in/through dozens of hurricanes in my lifetime.  It's part of what living here means.  And then comes the second part of news starts to develop....this could possibly become a CAT 5, and possibly hit land as a CAT 4 AND it's basically directly spearing through my area.  Oh joy!

:fork: Really? Really?....Really?

You know, I wish I had like, an all powerful-immortal-hurricane slaying sword. :knight:

Ok, ok, but seriously, this is one serious storm.  It's going to be bad, very bad, no matter where it hits.  So everyone please keep all of the Gulf Coast in your prayers.  Pray that we all have homes to come back too, and that we all make it through this storm safely.  I don't think we could handle another Katrina.

And if I don't have a chance to come back for a while (depending what happens) love and peace guys.

Some Big Announcements

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 23, 2008, 8:15 PM

...at least for me!

So, as is customary for almost every single journal for me, I apologize for obvious lack of activity.  I KNOW!  But, I do have a semi-excuse.  And that excuse is not only work, but a lot of other stuff.  One part being I'm moving!  I'm moving to Texas in the first week of September and getting my affairs in order has been quite the task.  What am I doing?  Well that's for me to know and you to find out one day.

I should probably go ahead and state at this point that I have no idea if I'll even have much internet access there.  If I do, of course I'll try to keep up more than I have been.  Those of you whom I've contacted through notes, don't worry, I'll most certainly find a way to keep our correspondance up. :aww:

Next...........it has happened.............we have finally formed..........a TEAM!  Or should I say a production team?  Mad Tea Party Productions is officially in business!  We all decided it was about dang time we got our cosply/costume butts up to date.  So with that, our first shoot was those two sickingly adorable love-birds Miaka and Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi.  So go forth check out our new team's account!  Mad-Tea-Party-Prodn(BTW, we each have nick-names and mine is Lady Luna) Pwease?

Okey, now I'm going to go do some catching up.  Talk to you guys later!  I hope you all had a wonderful summer and continue to be blessed in whatever you're doing!

Feature#17 Leaving, get ready

Journal Entry: Fri Jul 11, 2008, 4:48 AM

Ah,lovely hotel coffee

Ok, so I'm leaching internet in my hotel room right now as I'm sipping strange coffee.  I left for vacation yesterday, but our plane to the actual island (we're going to Grand Cayman btw)doesn't leave till 2 today.  Of course, I'm still WAY behind on messages and such, but fear not!  For I believe (I think) there is internet at the villa.  Hopefully I'll catch up by Saturday and then I'm not touching DA well, except for two people comment wise for a while.

But BEWARE! MUHAHA!  For I'm just going to give you guys a heads up that we (Christina = Stina and I) are going to be doing a TON of pictures.  Stina is going to be model (well, and I'll be hers too ^^;).  So, I hope your inboxes are ready.  I don't know if I'll post on vacation or not.  I just wanted to forewarn you guys though.

Ok, well, time to go!  We're checking out now.  Enjoy the features, have a good time wherever you are, and I'll see you soon!

P.S. DAYS TO MECHACON & BREAKING DAWN : 20-21 *FANGIRL SQUEE*
...but I have to wait a little longer for the Eragon trilogy and the Mistborn trilogy :cries:

The next feature is an up and coming digital artist with a flare for some of the coolest realistic digital paintings around.  From fantasy to more realistic pieces, he has a lovely, varied, gallery with something for everyone out there.  Welcome to firebolide's world!

Pirate by firebolide spring war by firebolide Towards the light by firebolide

One thing that is usually overlooked in the DA world is the wonderful world of artisan crafts.  There are many categories that fall under this, but this deviant certainly does a lot of them!  From stylish rings and necklaces, to adorable cell phone covers, to some seriously stylish purses.  Don't be shy, go and visit and admire Sompy-Stuff's gallery!

I Need a Punching Bag

Ah, what a week!  Talk about running through every emotional end of the spectrum.  That's rights kiddos, guess what Kaitlin has living right in her backyard- yes that's right WNV a.k.a.West Nile Virus I can no longer be out past dark without wearing three cans of insect repellant.  One of the horses we sold was bitten and she died a few days later.  Speaking of which the women who bought her blames us, BLAMES US?! What the $$^&%?!  So yes, it's OUR fault that an infected mosquito was out for dinner and bit the horse.  Before I get any further, there is a vaccine for WNV for horses, HOWEVER, it takes a litte while for the horse to build immunities in the horse.  And I'm sorry, we just got seventy, SEVENTY, horses only four weeks ago.  They were in TERRIBLE condition.  I'm sorry if the thing foremost on our minds was getting the horses back in shape.  From worming, washing their lice infested bodies, trying to get them to gain weight, to sleepless nights of watching pregnant mares.  We're terribly sorry we did not think to vaccinate for a virus that had not been reported in our area.  Heck, we're sorry we hadn't hopped in our time machine to make the horses original OWNER to take care of her OWN horses (who should have been the one to vaccinate the dang horse to begin with).  Not only this, but ok, seriously, I knew the horse.  She was very sweet and very cute.  I brushed her, fed her, took her to the vet, etc.  This women had never even laid eyes upon her and she has the GALL to say we were being irresponsible and not taking care of the horse. AHHH! WHAT THE *$@^?! :fork:  *huffs*  So sorry guys, but I just had to get it out.  There's more to the story, but it's harder to explain.  Either way lets just say if that I want knock the gossiping little moron around a bit. :anger:

Now That's Done

Let's move on to better things.  Yeah for new journal layouts!  I think there's a few little bugs, but hopefully I'll work them out by next week.  Sorry for no feature this week, I've been way too busy.

I wanted to say thanks for all the favs and comments on my cake.  It meant so much!  I wanted to give you guys a head up on something I've been tossing around for quite a while.  I always wanted to do some "recipe" deviations.  I'd photograph the final product and then post the recipe with it.  I'm going to post one here in a minute, but what do you guys think?  Should I post them on a different account?  I realize you guys might watch me for more of my "usual" stuff and I don't want to clog your inboxes.  So what do you think?

VACATION = 18 days and counting :faint:

As always, here I go again, apologizing for my late responses/devation comments, etc.  I'm really trying my hardest to catch up, please wait for me. Thanks for always being patient guys!

Too tired to say anything more.  Goodnight! :blowkiss:

Feature#16 Would you like to be Penpals?

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 9, 2008, 9:46 AM
W

In Kaitlin's Life This Week...

Hey everyone!  How are you all this supremely sizzling summer week?  I am literally roasting!  If any of you happen to buried in a foot of snow I would glady switch with you this very moment.  I've been working a lot lately, a mixture of horse, secretary, writer, gardener and photographer jobs.  Obviously, the majority of these is outdoor work thus the reason why I am lovely roasted piece of meat.

Hopefully, many of you have noticed, I have been attempting recently to catch up on all of the comments, journals, deviations, etc.  It's taking me a while, but I think I'm finally starting to gain some ground.  Oh and big hello and thank you to any new watchers!

Rebecca, a.k.a. MissMayven came over this past Friday/Saturday and we proceeded to do a much belated photoshoot.  I must say, it turned out wonderfully!  I got to do a lot of silhouette/forest styled shots that I'd been wanting to get done in a long time.  So everyone be ready for the river of photos that are coming.  I won't to more than two a three a day of course.

I think I may be going to visit my sister in a few weeks in San Antonio.  It'll be nice to a little break from the ranch plus I'll finally get to take a tour of a photography school I'm looking at.  Also, I'm looking forward to visiting my grandmother.  She's....well she's not doing to well.  That won't be for a few more weeks though.

Moving on, I want to talk about, as the title infers, penpals!  And I don't really mean email.  I've had multiple penpals.  However, over time, many have not been able to keep up correspondance due to life in general.  I have kept up with one though and I greatly enjoy my conversations with him.  That being said, I would like to have a few more.  For now, I'm only opening this up to people a.) on my friends list or b.) people who have spoken to me on a consistent bases (meaning my  watchers).  Please realize this not just for "safety" reasons, but because if I've talked to you before then we have more of a chance of having continuous correspondance.

What's involved in a successful correspondance?  Anything and everything!  I've been doing this for a very long time and I find the best penpals are those who are willing both to keep up with their penpal and to talk about anything.  Part of the beauty of having a penpal is learining all about who they are.  You could talk about funny, sad, embarrasing,  personal, and happy stories.  Asking questions is a must!  Questions about family, traditions, your hopes and fears, etc.  Little tokens are fun too.  Clippings from a local newspaper, pictures, stickers, etc.  The list goes on and on.

So why the heck do this?  Really and truly it is about finding a friend, about expanding my view to other people and places.  Before I ever got into photography I wanted to be an ambassador.  However, considering I don't have the money or the "right connections" that dream has definitely been closed down.  However it has not killed my love to learn about the world and the people in it.

That being said, if you would like to take this up (and you fall under one of the above categories) please note me and we'll talk.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Kaitlin

*runs off to start catching up on journals*

P.S. I was tagged again!  I'll get to that next week though.

The final feature this week is one that I found recently and just can't get enough of.  It is filled with not just drawing, not just illustrations, but with all the fantasies, hopes and dreams of childhood.  Among other things as well, this is one deviant gallery you just can't miss!

Feature #15 Cosplays, Contests, and Tags oh my

Journal Entry: Fri May 30, 2008, 5:40 PM

In Kaitlin's Life This Week...

While I’ve been away the past few weeks, I have had the honor of a few of my DD suggestions getting picked.  So first things first, go and congratulate both RenieDraws and mattcha on both of their fantastic work (and check out their galleries too!).
Contents of a Heart by RenieDraws Dragon by mattcha

TAG!  So, before and during my hiatus I was tagged by a couple of people (AkaiSoul dkirbyj)

1. Post these rules
2. Every tagged person must post 8 random facts about themselves
3. Put these facts on your journal
4. In the end of the post tag 8 other people
5. Go to their page and leave a comment telling they were tagged

1.) I feel the need for speed...speed reading that is!  I read books in no time and I am not exagerrating.  Usually, once I pick up a book I won't stop till I'm done.  Thus, this habit has led me to be a top book whore.  I've read hundreds (maybe a thousand or more!) of books over my lifetime.  I think the fastest I ever read a book....hmm.  I've never timed myself actually.  I know that I finished the LOTR trilogy in less than three days....

2.) I HATE the feel of paper towels (or kleenex or anything like it).  They make me cringe.  It's worse than fingernails scraping across a chalk board.

3.) National Geographic is BOMB!  I totally love NG!  I, (my family, but mainly me) have collected NG since the early 90s.  We have this huge bookshelf and I think I've read and looked through everyone of them.  I can't help but love their photographs and incredible stories of both the past and the present.  Forget Vogue, National Geographic= WIN

4.) Food =  Ok, I love to cook and in particular bake!  I love knowing I've created something delicious.  I also have a habit of throwing things together, or "experimental cooking".  I really like taking a new spin on old things.  I usually try to change things using stuff I've grown like lemon balm, lavendar, fennel, peppermint, etc. and adding them in weird ways to the things I cook.  It comes out great....most of the time

5.) I am mostly anti-social.  I usually have to force myself to go to social events (excluding those with good/close friends).  I think it has something to do with being skeptical about people (in particular guys- I'm told I'm a cynical son of a gun).  Character flaw much? :paranoid:

6.) I have a "secret" list of things I want to do before I die.  Everything thing from visiting the birthplace of some of the world's most famous folklores (from Snow White to Dracula), to dying as an old women on a snowy night. <-----This because the last time it snowed here was the year I was born so it's only fitting that I go out with the snow. ;)

7.) I want to have a big family!  I think kids are wonderful (albeit a bit unnerving sometimes).  Forget all this one and two kids stuff, I want at least 4 to 6!  Oh and we can't forget all the animals (since I'll be rescuing pets all along the way).  Haha, my poor husband. :aww:

8.) BEWARE petty-ness :ohnoes: I want to sell at least one print while I'm DA *has never sold one*....

Ok, now I tag ALL OF YOU! That's right all of my watcher/friends must do it or I shall hunt you down! :evillaugh:

Moving, boy am I exhausted.  Last week mom and I worked 12 hour days in the wonderful oven known as the outdoors.  I have the worst tan lines and my muscles ached for a week.  It was a truly crazy week.  The good news is we’ve sold 1/3 or more of those 70 horses.  The bad, I had to put down one of the colts.  I cried for a while.

The beginning of this week was a bit easier.  Not as much work, but still a lot.  And then Wednesday, Rachel aka rocluvsluxord, came over and we did a shoot.  It was a lot of fun and I got some wonderful shots! :glomp:  Part of the shoot, she was dressed up as a pirate (albeit a women one).  And dear Lord, I thought I would stick a fork in her and she’d be roasted.  It was HOT!  So again, thanks for bearing with that heat girl!

Moving on, I don’t know about shoots this summer.  I really can’t say.  My main goal this summer is working on my story.  Or should I say stories?  If I could finish it in a year, I would most certainly send it in.  That being said, it’s time to kick my butt into gear.

Oh yes, guess what?  I’m going to the local Mechacon here in August...as an actual…character! *gasp*  I’ve never done a cosplay before so this is a bit scary.  I’m going as Yuko, from Tsubasa Chronicles (or xxxHolic).  I hope I do her justice.  I’ve secured a wonderful costume, but I need a wig! *goes hunting*

Last, but not least, I had mentioned a contest of some sort last year.  Well, I finally want to do that this summer.  I’m not quite sure of the content though.  I thought I could give out characters, descriptions, personalities, even excerpts from chapters of them and go from there.  That way any medium is possible.  You could dress up, make one of the items from the story, do a character sheet, make a scene, etc.  What do you guys think?  Would anyone consider participating?  Should I do something more generic for a contest?

Hmm, well that’s all for now kiddos.  My spaghetti sauce is almost done and I’m starving.  So, love and kisses to all! :smooch:

This Week's Features

The first feature this week is one fairly new to me, but certainly not to photography.  He’s got a great eye and wonderful talent for capturing the dramatic.  He’s got a particular flair for portraitures and fashion shots and all of his shots have a wonderful atmosphere in them.  Welcome to the world of saicis.

The second feature this week certainly has a special place in my heart.  One of my favorite TV series as a child was Sailor Moon.  That being said I could not pass up the chance to shine the light on Mi-Lee.  Her gallery is full of all of the beautiful senshi in elegant poses with tender expressions.  Beyond just the scouts though, she has a beautiful soft. colorful style that literally blooms before your eyes.  Anyone can enjoy her beautiful traditional work!

The final feature this week is one of an artist that I believe is on the way to becoming one of the top fantasy artists on DA.  His work has a way bringing his various subjects jump alive within the viewer’s mind.  With vivid detail and extraordinary creatures and people, one can not help but have a wonderful time browsing through JeffLeeJohnson!

In Kaitlin's Life This Week...

I...am....FREE! :boogie: :faint:  MUHAHA, Take that evil school!  Hello dear, sweet, summer.  How I missed you so! :cries:

Ahem.

I finally finished school this week and I can't even begin to tell you how relieved I am.  That doesn't mean I don't have any work though.  We just acquired 70, yes 70!, more horses.  It's a really LONG story, but they are mostly in terrible condition and mother and I have some serious work to do.  That being said I won't be as active, but more active than I was the past month and a half.  But most of the work will be finished within the next two weeks.  And then my real summer shall begin! :evillaugh:

In the meantime, next journal will have some features in it.  Oh, and two tags!  I was tagged by both dkirbyj and AkaiSoul!  So get ready for 16 (very, very) strange and random facts about me next journal.

As for the issue of the inbox....eh....I can't comment on 1000 deviations....So I'm going to :+fav: and run, maybe short comments (compared to my usual elaborate ones)....PLEASE DON'T THROW STUFF AT ME!  However I will respond to every comment and note!

Anyway, :wow: thanks for the 10k pageviews (I didn't even notice till just now!).  I don't usually do "kiribans" or anything like that, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do something, right?  So the feature this week is of every single one of my watchers (that posts deviations)!  Thank you guys for all of the support!  You guys really are the best watchers ever! I missed ya'll! :glomp:

In the twisted world of dreams, things can add up perfectly, or not at all. Sometimes you can’t run away. Other times, you can fly. But for Rei Hino, her dreams were sometimes visions of the future, omens of possibility, usually vivid. And many times, they were right.
Ever since early childhood, she had an odd ability to detect danger or evil spirits. Even though her abilities alienated her from others, she continued to practice her gift of receiving these vivid dreams. However, her current dream was only shadows and gibberish.
All around her, shadows were talking in some unearthly language. Were they taunting her, warning her, or maybe just trying to ask about the weather? She didn’t know. Only one thing solidified in her mind; the reflection of a reddish sword in a hazy mirror.

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 8, 2008, 11:04 AM

In Kaitlin's Life This Week...

Ok, I have to be honest school has become way to hectic.  I am literally BURIED in schoolwork.  I log onto DA and my inbox leaves me depressed.  And to top it all off, I'm really struggling with certain....things.  Time never seems to stop or to tell us anything does it?  Well that's besides the point.  Anyway, I'm taking temporary leave.  I will try to comment and return comments sometime this week and then I probably won't be back on until sometime next month.  Love you guys.

P.S. Mariko!  I'm going to post your submission tonight ok?  I just realized I didn't!  Once I get back I'm going to get to hard work on the club!  I am going to do a contest and such, get a sub, try to some affilates etc. K?

This Week's Features

The first feature this week is perhaps one of the most unique galleries I have ever seen.  Have you ever wondered if there were tiny people who lived in your fridge, in your garden, in your candy cabinet?  Well the answer is yes!  And Fatima-AlKuwari seems to have picture proof.  But don’t be fooled though!  She also has some other wonderful photographs to offer.

Happy Birthday... by Fatima-AlKuwari Go Green... by Fatima-AlKuwari
Baby... by Fatima-AlKuwari skating on a banana... by Fatima-AlKuwari
Blue tears... by Fatima-AlKuwari Flames by Fatima-AlKuwari

The second feature this week is that of a lovely digital artist who is largely unknown on DA.  Her work is characterized by beautiful fantasy of the imagination that carries you to whole different worlds.  In one word her art is very graceful which makes lavra’s gallery a real find!

Air by lavra Dragonfly by lavra
Sweet Kimono by lavra Horse card by lavra

The third feature this week is in a type of art that takes a bit more than pencil to paper, but thought, both dreams and nightmares to form.  What lurks in the hidden mist of and water of the night?  What form of creature is hiding within a lamppost?  What?  Explore the world of dreams, or is it perhaps reality? Journal Entry: Wed Feb 20, 2008, 8:30 PM

In Kaitlin's Life This Week

Howdy and hello guys!  How are we this lovely day?  Good I hope!  Ok, too much, huh?  I'm both extremely excited and somewhat, er, saddened.  But, I really don't want to dwell on the bad stuff, so let's move on to the good stuff!  First things first, my dearest Becky (lovedbyHim) is coming into town next week and we are scheduling a shoot!  I'm SO excited for two reasons: one the fact that ideas have been flowing out of my head like CRAZY lately and two because we are going to do some on my college campus which has some AWESOME scenery right now.  So, I'm as happy as the IRS at a poor man's audit. (HAH! POLITICAL JOKE!)  But that is for another journal....

Moving on!  I'm thinking about starting a club.  I'm not really sure yet though.  Honestly, I want to start a er, culture/legend club, if you will.  As some of you may know, I LOVE learning about other cultures and myths, fables and folklores, even history.  I just want a place where people from every place, country, nation can gather and share things like this.  It could be anything from a haunted house down the street to a story of a local boogieman.  You could post any type of art, maybe a picture of this house, a painting, sculpture, anything!  It's up to your imagination.  It would be open to all types of media, obviously.  So what do you guys think?  Yes, no?  Maybe so? :giggle:

Next order of business has to do with contests.  I just realized I've never technically held and/or been in a contest of any sort.  Thus, I'm going to start looking for some good contests on DA.  AND I think I've finally decided on whether or not I'm going to hold my own contest.  And the answer is....yes.  I'm currently about ten full chapters into Twilight at the moment.  Starting later this year, probably in the Fall sometime, I'm going to post a story related contest.  It can be in any category, you can draw a character, an object, a map, you can take a picture of something that correlates with the story, heck, you could even dress up like someone!  You could write something, etc. etc.  Hopefully I will have gotten to a point in the story where at least half of the characters are introduced and the other half I will post excerpts of them.  Now, this date is subject to change, but this is what I've currently planned on.  Ok? Ok!

Next, next order of business.  Does anyone know where I can apply for a job on DA?  Haha, I just love this website so much.  It's like my home away from home.  Yes, random, not what I was going to say, but oh well!  What I was going to say next was about the direction of my work.  Yes, I'm going to continue dragging my beautiful friends around and having them model for me, but there's something else too.  My first love in photography was still life and macro and that has never left me.  And since it's hard for me to always put shoots together with everyone always busy and gone, I think I'm going to start going back to my roots.  Plus, I really want to try some new things, like abstract and minimalistic styles.  I really want to start to experiment a lot.  Thus if you guys think that might be a little boring or something, just uncheck my deviations, k?  I'm perfectly fine with that!  Experiments may be fun for me and not you and I have no qualm with that!

Okey dokey then, I think that's it for now.  Remember two things: what do you think of my club idea, and two, the features this week are AWESOME!  So go give some major love to said feature peoples.

Goodnight guys!

This Week's Features

The first feature this week is just, purely amazing.  I was floored when I browsed through his gallery.  A true master at the digital arts.  He has everything from fantasy to sci-fi, anime to gorgeous (real looking!) landscapes.  There is something for everyone in here and I can gurantee you you won't want to leave after touring through the spectacular work of agnidevi.

Trinity Blood by agnidevi Tropicscape by agnidevi

This next feature I was very, very lucky to catch.  I was about to turn in for the night when I hit my homepage, just in case I had another message you know, when I saw a lovely piece with one of my favourite mythical creatures on the front page.  I clicked on it and instantly I was in unicorn bliss.  Then, as I clicked the lovely artist who drew this gallery button and my bliss was multiplied by ten!  What a lovely and whimsical style she has.  Most certainly unique and very beautiful and just great pieces of eyecandy!  She has a big imagination and a smooth flowing hand.  So with that, I encourage you to visit the lovely gem that is inkscribbles gallery.

Happy Valentimes by inkscribble Affection by inkscribble

This week's final feature comes from a fairly new deviant.  It is not very often I find a manga/anime style artist that paints.  Keeping that in mind, what a great find it was when I came across this deviant's gallery.  In particular, her art isn't just pictures so to speak, it's tales that transcend both time and space to ancient loves and far off journeys.  I love her soft style which really gives her paintings a really romantic feel to them.  Please check into loraphins gallery!

Feature #12 Need some deviant help

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 29, 2008, 4:59 PM

In Kaitlin's Life This Week

First things first!  Please visit Rahll's Journal here.  We have a deviant in serious need here and Rahll is organizing help for her.  If you can donate, or even just give support either would be greatly appreciated.  If you have any qualms with giving money on the basis of whether or not this is real, I can and will personally attest to the fact that this is indeed real and you can absolutely trust Rahll.  Please remeber to keep this deviant in your prayers!

......:tea:...:work:...  This, in emoticon language, is how my life has been the past few weeks.  In case many of you were wondering while I've been so late to reply, comment, fave, etc. it is because of both school and horse work (although it lightened quite a bit since the auction is over).  Yes, I started my next sysmester and it's not so much that it's very hard as it's just alot of work.  I'm very involved in my World Politics and World Civilizations class and while I want to pass, I really, really want to learn.  If I'm ever going to really get into International relations, these two classes are extremely foundational to that.  Thus it has been taking up alot of my time.  Thankfully though, next week is Mardi Gras and I have most of the week off so I'll be sure to try to catch up with everything then.

As for photoshoots, as of now, I have none scheduled.  Weather has been terrible, both somewhat cold and it has rained nearly every day.  There's not much foliage at all and I haven't seen the sun in weeks!  So, until then, I'm pretty much stuck.  But, I do have some wonderful news for the summer!  I will be going with family and a friend to the Cayman Islands!  You can be expecting about a billion and one pictures from there.  The lovely Stina will be my model and I'll be hers in turn.  I can't wait!

Let's see, small sidenote, I will be posting chapter 1 of Twilight in the near future.  I hope you guys keep in mind that the beginnings are never very exciting.  At this point I'm just trying to get character(s) into the fold since once their journey starts, there's really no stopping.  N-n-no tomatoes please!

OH!  And everyone go check out Honoels new webcomic, right now!  Do you hear me?  Right now! Beautiful artwork, adorable and interesting characters, and it just started!  Check out By Moon Along.

This Week's Feature

Well, the story of this feature was quite recent.  I was page hopping, as usual, when I ran across a single favourite.  I clicked on it, thinking to myself how beautiful the piece was and how it must have been a piece by one of the famous digital artists on here.  Much to my suprise, this person had under 2,000 pageviews.  I nearly choked on my tea.  I'd have to say, even though she only has eleven deviations, I've fallen in love with every single one.  There's a touch of magical and a breath of fantasy in her pieces.  I guess what I like best is the way she creates such awesome atmospheres with each and every piece.  Without further ado, I bring you darkmello.

In Kaitlin's Life This Week

First things first, THANK YOU Asfodelo! :glomp:  He drew one of my characters, Ilfrona to be precise, for me and he did a drop dead gorgeous job.  Go shower him with love and cookies! :smooch:
 Ilfrona by Asfodelo
Also, Congratulations to Aurella!  She just got engaged! :glomp:  I wish you two an amazing wedding, and a long and happy life together (with seperate cookie bags of course ;)).

Obviously I'm back from Panama and let me just say it was a truly wonderful trip.  I learned so much not just about the people and the place, but alot about myself as well.  I can honestly say there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the wonderful people of Panama.  I was able to meet many of the same people I had met in February along with many new ones.  I learned also some very interesting cultural facts that I had not known before about some of the traditions in San Juan.  For instance, if a boy and a girl are seen talking together much they are considered to be in love.  All of the girls on the trip were good friends with the guys so we must have looked scandolous!  Although we really did try to keep it on the down low. :giggle:

As you may have noticed I'm trying to post a couple pictures everyday.  I'm hoping you guys are enjoying them as much as I am (especially the bubbles!).  While on the point of pictures though, I want to lay out something about them.  I am making every Panama picture I post into a print.  100% of that profit will go to a young Panamanian girl who I am sponsoring to finish school this year.  Honestly, I can only support her a little bit from my own paycheck, but I'm hoping that maybe I can add to it with prints.  She really is an adorable girl and has worked very hard to get where she is today.  For that matter, once she's done with school I will continue to support  (with as much as possible) one Panamanian student a year.  If you would like to help, but don't want to buy a print, please note me so I can give the address where to send the money to.

Next order of business, school starts again so very soon!  Honestly, I'm kind of looking forward to it!  I can't wait to start my world politics class.  That should be so much fun!  Of course for every up there's a down...math class.  Duh-duh-dun!! :scared:  I'm so terrible at math!  There goes my 4.0!  *sigh* Oh well!

:excited:  Oh my goodness, I totally forgot to mention!  Guess what?!  I'm getting published in a coffee table book! :faint:  Can you believe it?  It doesn't come out till the end of this year, but I made it!  And the picture that got in, you ask?  Why of course, Once Upon a Time.  The title of the book isn't official, but it runs under the "Endless Journeys" series.  I totally flipped when I found out.  However, there is still the contest part of this.  I'll be published either way, but I have a chance to win some money which I can honestly say will go directly to buying me some lenses, lights, and/or backgrounds.  Thus, I shamelessly say...please vote for me?

Well, that's about all I have to say for now.  My brain is very fried and I have alot of work to do tomorrow (the equine dentist is coming, oh noes!), so I'll be off to bed!  Oh, yes, but before I go I just found out the play my old drama department is doing: Neverland.  Thus get ready because this spring Peter Pan meets Kaitlin! :w00t:

This Week's Feature

A good photographer friend of mine once told me a photographer's job is to show the normal, everyday world in a new light.  To show the flipside of our everyday lifes, peoples, and places.  Well, I can't think of a better person to demonstrate that trait than this week's feature.  From the streets of the city, to nature's waterfalls, from the interior of malls to quaint little coffe shops covered in snow.  He has a wonderful eye for the extraordinary in the ordinary.  Welcome to the world unseen.  Welcome to RAS1s world.

Merry Christmas My Friends and Watchers

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 20, 2007, 7:52 PM
Warning, long entry with lots of love!

Well it's official, another year older means I'm another year wiser....*hears laughter in the BG* Hey!  I'm serious! :giggle:  So I turned 19 yesterday and I'm feeling a bit older, if not so much wiser.  Before I go any further I have to give out some love.  :devmoonlightfligth:, behindinfinity, and ceruleanmorning made me a birthday gift (:faint:) that I'm absolutely in love with.  Look!   Thank you guys soooooooooo much!  I know I keep saying it but I really do love it!  I feel all the heart tingles.  Even though Jin tried to steal it there for a moment. :giggle:

But man, guys, what a crazy week!  First I went to visit my friend in Baton Rouge (an hour or so away), it was wonderful.  We ate at this awesome Chinese resturaunt, went to Whole Foods (love that store!), and saw a movie (No Country for Old Men, CRAZY!).  That is until my car engine started heating up.  The engine light was turning on and I still had to make the trip home!  Luckily, I popped the hood to try to see if I could with my amazing car knowledge (which amounts to nothing!) figure it out.  Well, to no avail.   I have to say, I am deathly afraid of my car breaking down.  It scares the bajeezers out of me! Anyway, a few guys came by and found the problem and helped me fix it.  It was a miracle!  I still had to cut the day short, but at least I made it home safely.

Then, it's my birthday and I have lunch with a few friends who are in for Christmas.  That was very nice.  That night wasn't though.  I brought my brother to a basketball game and we got lost getting there!  I drove around for about 30 minutes trying to find my way and couldn't.  The directions I had were wrong, of course.  I thought he was going to be benched because he was late.  He wasn't, but I was still upset. :shakefist:  And then my internet has been down the past day and a half.  I think I fixed it though.  I just, uh, wiggled some stuff around and voila!  Maybe I'm a computer genius and I just don't know it!...or maybe not. :lmao:

So this weekend will be extremely busy for me.  I haven't celebrated with my family yet, so we're going out for dinner Saturday and a movie (National Treasure 2!), however I do want to see Sweeney Todd too (not a family movie though).  Then we have an employee party tomorrow night, some more Christmas shopping, Christmas baking, then Christmas!  And then I leave for Panama.  AH!  No rest for three weeks! :faint:  I'm sure I'll manage though.  Oh, while on this topic.  To all those I watch/friends.  I've decided there is no possible way I will be able to comment once I get back thus I will reply to comments, but I will erase all but one deviation from each person otherwise I will be buried for weeks.  I'm sorry! ^^;

Well, now this brings us to the beginning of the best part of this journal for me.  I've been on DA for nearly four years and boy, has it been a journey.  In particular, this past year.  I started to really get into it because I began to find I had a very large love for art, and all types at that.  I began faving, commenting, and watching more and more and along the way, I began to make friends.  And I don't just mean friends, but wonderful ones.  Hey, it may be only online, but I feel like I've known you guys not just for longer, but for real.  You guys are what keep me coming back.  You encourage me in so many ways.  We talk, and chat, laugh and listen.  I really feel very close, no matter how far away you are.  So with that, I can honestly say I love you guys and from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for being my friends.
