Hey everyone! How are you all this supremely sizzling summer week? I am literally roasting! If any of you happen to buried in a foot of snow I would glady switch with you this very moment. I've been working a lot lately, a mixture of horse, secretary, writer, gardener and photographer jobs. Obviously, the majority of these is outdoor work thus the reason why I am lovely roasted piece of meat.

Hopefully, many of you have noticed, I have been attempting recently to catch up on all of the comments, journals, deviations, etc. It's taking me a while, but I think I'm finally starting to gain some ground. Oh and big hello and thank you to any new watchers!

Rebecca, a.k.a. ~Avriela came over this past Friday/Saturday and we proceeded to do a much belated photoshoot. I must say, it turned out wonderfully! I got to do a lot of silhouette/forest styled shots that I'd been wanting to get done in a long time. So everyone be ready for the river of photos that are coming. I won't to more than two a three a day of course.

I think I may be going to visit my sister in a few weeks in San Antonio. It'll be nice to a little break from the ranch plus I'll finally get to take a tour of a photography school I'm looking at. Also, I'm looking forward to visiting my grandmother. She's....well she's not doing to well. That won't be for a few more weeks though.

Moving on, I want to talk about, as the title infers, penpals! And I don't really mean email. I've had multiple penpals. However, over time, many have not been able to keep up correspondance due to life in general. I have kept up with one though and I greatly enjoy my conversations with him. That being said, I would like to have a few more. For now, I'm only opening this up to people a.) on my friends list or b.) people who have spoken to me on a consistent bases (meaning my watchers). Please realize this not just for "safety" reasons, but because if I've talked to you before then we have more of a chance of having continuous correspondance.

What's involved in a successful correspondance? Anything and everything! I've been doing this for a very long time and I find the best penpals are those who are willing both to keep up with their penpal and to talk about anything. Part of the beauty of having a penpal is learining all about who they are. You could talk about funny, sad, embarrasing, personal, and happy stories. Asking questions is a must! Questions about family, traditions, your hopes and fears, etc. Little tokens are fun too. Clippings from a local newspaper, pictures, stickers, etc. The list goes on and on.

So why the heck do this? Really and truly it is about finding a friend, about expanding my view to other people and places. Before I ever got into photography I wanted to be an ambassador. However, considering I don't have the money or the "right connections" that dream has definitely been closed down. However it has not killed my love to learn about the world and the people in it.

While I’ve been away the past few weeks, I have had the honor of a few of my DD suggestions getting picked. So first things first, go and congratulate both *Alizel and *mattcha on both of their fantastic work (and check out their galleries too!).

1.) I feel the need for speed...speed reading that is! I read books in no time and I am not exagerrating. Usually, once I pick up a book I won't stop till I'm done. Thus, this habit has led me to be a top book whore. I've read hundreds (maybe a thousand or more!) of books over my lifetime. I think the fastest I ever read a book....hmm. I've never timed myself actually. I know that I finished the LOTR trilogy in less than three days....

2.) I HATE the feel of paper towels (or kleenex or anything like it). They make me cringe. It's worse than fingernails scraping across a chalk board.

3.) National Geographic is BOMB! I totally love NG! I, (my family, but mainly me) have collected NG since the early 90s. We have this huge bookshelf and I think I've read and looked through everyone of them. I can't help but love their photographs and incredible stories of both the past and the present. Forget Vogue, National Geographic= WIN

4.) Food = Ok, I love to cook and in particular bake! I love knowing I've created something delicious. I also have a habit of throwing things together, or "experimental cooking". I really like taking a new spin on old things. I usually try to change things using stuff I've grown like lemon balm, lavendar, fennel, peppermint, etc. and adding them in weird ways to the things I cook. It comes out great...._{most of the time}

5.) I am mostly anti-social. I usually have to force myself to go to social events (excluding those with good/close friends). I think it has something to do with being skeptical about people (in particular guys- I'm told I'm a cynical son of a gun). Character flaw much?

6.) I have a "secret" list of things I want to do before I die. Everything thing from visiting the birthplace of some of the world's most famous folklores (from Snow White to Dracula), to dying as an old women on a snowy night. <-----This because the last time it snowed here was the year I was born so it's only fitting that I go out with the snow.

7.) I want to have a big family! I think kids are wonderful (albeit a bit unnerving sometimes). Forget all this one and two kids stuff, I want at least 4 to 6! Oh and we can't forget all the animals (since I'll be rescuing pets all along the way). Haha, my poor husband.

8.) BEWARE petty-ness I want _{to sell at least one print while I'm DA *has never sold one*....}

Moving, boy am I exhausted. Last week mom and I worked 12 hour days in the wonderful oven known as the outdoors. I have the worst tan lines and my muscles ached for a week. It was a truly crazy week. The good news is we’ve sold 1/3 or more of those 70 horses. The bad, I had to put down one of the colts. I cried for a while.

The beginning of this week was a bit easier. Not as much work, but still a lot. And then Wednesday, Rachel aka ~rocluvsluxord, came over and we did a shoot. It was a lot of fun and I got some wonderful shots! Part of the shoot, she was dressed up as a pirate (albeit a women one). And dear Lord, I thought I would stick a fork in her and she’d be roasted. It was HOT! So again, thanks for bearing with that heat girl!

Moving on, I don’t know about shoots this summer. I really can’t say. My main goal this summer is working on my story. Or should I say stories? If I could finish it in a year, I would most certainly send it in. That being said, it’s time to kick my butt into gear.

Oh yes, guess what? I’m going to the local Mechacon here in August...as an actual…character! *gasp* I’ve never done a cosplay before so this is a bit scary. I’m going as Yuko, from Tsubasa Chronicles (or xxxHolic). I hope I do her justice. I’ve secured a wonderful costume, but I need a wig! *goes hunting*

Last, but not least, I had mentioned a contest of some sort last year. Well, I finally want to do that this summer. I’m not quite sure of the content though. I thought I could give out characters, descriptions, personalities, even excerpts from chapters of them and go from there. That way any medium is possible. You could dress up, make one of the items from the story, do a character sheet, make a scene, etc. What do you guys think? Would anyone consider participating? Should I do something more generic for a contest?

I...am....FREE! MUHAHA, Take that evil school! Hello dear, sweet, summer. How I missed you so!

Ahem.

I finally finished school this week and I can't even begin to tell you how relieved I am. That doesn't mean I don't have any work though. We just acquired 70, yes 70!, more horses. It's a really LONG story, but they are mostly in terrible condition and mother and I have some serious work to do. That being said I won't be as active, but more active than I was the past month and a half. But most of the work will be finished within the next two weeks. And then my real summer shall begin!

In the meantime, next journal will have some features in it. Oh, and two tags! I was tagged by both ~dkirbyj and *AkaiSoul! So get ready for 16 (very, very) strange and random facts about me next journal.

As for the issue of the inbox....eh....I can't comment on 1000 deviations....So I'm going to and run, maybe short comments (compared to my usual elaborate ones)....PLEASE DON'T THROW STUFF AT ME! However I will respond to every comment and note!

Anyway, thanks for the 10k pageviews (I didn't even notice till just now!). I don't usually do "kiribans" or anything like that, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do something, right?
